Rhenus Freight Logistics, one of Europe’s leading logistics service companies, has reportedly opened its offices in the Moroccan port city of Tangier.
With this first implementation on the African continent, the German company will propose several services to and from Morocco, including an intermodal transport service (road-sea) with regular departures to the ports of Tangier Med, Casablanca, Agadir and Nador.
The company also provides door-to-door services covering the whole Moroccan territory as well as consolidation and deconsolidation services.
The logistics provider also has warehouses dedicated to the handling and storage of goods, and the preparation of orders.
Rhenus says that it “provides a complete logistics solution, shipping all types of products including fashion products, FMCG [Fast Moving Consumer Goods], precision engineered, and even dangerous goods”.
Rhenus Logistics has developed logistical services with Morocco through the Spanish forwarder Tetrans Rhenus since 2008.
Freight Logistics is one of the leaders in Europe in the fields of contract, courier, transport and port logistics. The company has more than 21,000 employees and operates in 360 sites across 37 countries.
Morocco and Germany have positive bilateral relations that are expected to develop after the recent phone call between the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, and the German Chancellor Angella Merkel during which the latter invited the Moroccan monarch to visit Germany.
Morocco has become the best African destination for world investors. Morocco’s Investment Commission (AMDI) approved 36 investment projects in 2015 totaling MAD 62.86 billion, to generate 8,452 jobs, according to the Minister of Industry, Trade & New Technologies, Moulay Hafid Elalamy.
