The House of People’s Representatives (HPR), on Tuesday, passed the draft law No. 13 of the year 2013 amending and completing some provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
The bill was voted in by 96 MPs with neither abstention nor objection.
Provisions of the law take effect from June 1, 2016. The date was approved by 88 MPs, while 1 abstained.
The proposal of the Ministry of Justice providing for the entry into force of the law from July 1, 2016 was rejected.
MP Samia Abbou (Democratic Current) said despite some shortcomings, the amendments to the bill amending and completing the Code of Criminal Procedure are “generally satisfactory” insofar as the rights of defendants and victims are guaranteed.
