Egypt builds 9 smart cities in Upper Egypt with EGP 11bn investments
The Egyptian New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) is currently establishing nine smart cities in Upper Egypt, the minister of housing Assem El-Gazzar said in a statement on Wednesday.
Investments of housing, water, and wasterwater facilities in these cities have reached EGP 11 billion to date, El-Gazzar revealed.
The new smart cities are expected to accommodate about 4.5 million people, El-Gazzar added, noting that the real estate projects in these cities will create 1.4 million jobs.
Industrial establishments and workshops will be built on about 10% of the total area of these cities, while tourism projects will be established on a 1,050-feddan waterfront plot overlooking the Nile River.
