Egypt Tourism & Hotels August 2017
Tourism has long been a fundamental component of Egypt’s economy. At its peak in 2010, Egypt attracted 14.7 million tourists with US$ 12.5 bn in revenues. Despite challenges to the sector since 2011, tourism remains a critical component of the country’s recovery and future economic prospects, and a key focus of government initiatives and investment in 2016. Egypt has been hoping that improvements in airport security and the decline of the Egyptian pound will bring tourists back to its beaches and ancient landmarks.
