Consumer Price Index up 0.6% in July
The Consumer Price Index posted a 0.6% rise in July following a 0.5% increase in June, the National Institute of Statistics (French: INS) said.
This increase is mainly due to a 3.1% rise in the prices of transport products and services and despite a 0.5% drop in foodstuff prices.
The drop in foodstuff prices follows a fall in the prices of eggs (-3.2%), poultry (-2.8%), fresh vegetables (-2.2%) and fresh fruits (-1.5%) over one month.
Prices of transport products and services edged up 3.1% as a result of car prices, vehicle operating costs and transport fees jumping 2.4%, 2% and 6.3%, respectively.
Prices of restaurants and hotel services posted a 1.7% rise due to the respective 1% and 7.2% rises in the prices of restaurant and coffee shop services and hotel services.
