Abu Dhabi Waste Management Centre (Tadweer) on Wednesday opened 150 kilowatts/hour battery solar system at its Al Dhafra Landfill.
The new plant will reduce diesel consumption by 138,000 litres, while cutting 117 tonnes of CO2 emissions, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
“This ambitious project aligns with Tadweer’s strategy to run all its facilities on renewable energy through adopting world-class technologies and the latest clean energy solutions. It also reinforces the company’s sustained commitment to preserving our environment for future generations,” acting general manager of Tadweer Salem Al Kaabi said.
Tadweer is supporting the decarbonisation targets of the Emirati Vision 2021, he added.
