Pierre Nkurunziza, President of Burundi, received a delegation from Al Maktoum Foundation, led by Mirza Al Sayegh, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation.
Al Sayegh conveyed the greetings of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and Patron of the Foundation, to President Nkurunziza.
President Nkurunziza thanked Sheikh Hamdan for approving the “Al Maktoum School Project,” which is the foundation’s first project in Burundi.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the opening of the foundation’s office in the country. President Nkurunziza highlighted his country’s economic and academic development while welcoming investors in many areas, especially in the agriculture sector.
The delegation also met with Deniza Nkurunziza, First Lady of Burundi, who is heading the Obuntu Charitable Foundation, to discuss projects that aim to support women, including the ‘Producing Families Project’.
The foundation will supply 71 sewing machines before Ramadan, and train instructors who will teach women during the project. It will also provide the necessary fabric, as well as purchase the end products and distribute them to the needy. The foundation will supply the project with computers and other requirements.
Al Sayegh noted that the First Lady welcomed the project and thanked the foundation for its efforts.
