Several Tunisian political parties have reaffirmed their solidarity with the Palestinian people in their fight for their just cause and condemned the transfer of the US embassy to Al Quds, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Nakba, marked by a heavy toll of more than 50 Palestinian protesters who were killed in Gaza.
The Ettakatol party stressed that “the transfer of the US embassy to Al Quds outside any peaceful process and unilateral decision gives a green light to the hard-line Zionist government for shedding Palestinian blood”.
The party has made the US administration “totally responsible for the serious violations committed by Israel, for its unfortunate consequences in the region and the end of any peace solution”.
Ettakatol called on all “men of honour in the world to use all peaceful means to urge their countries to put pressure on the United States and Israel by immediately recognising the State of Palestine and supporting the establishment of its national sovereignty “.
Al-Joumhouri party hailed on its side “the resistance of the Palestinians and their unwavering attachment to their land and the establishment of their independent state with Al Quds as capital”, while calling for boycotting the activities of the US Embassy in Tunisia.
It also appealed to all Tunisians “to express by all means their refusal of the unjust US decision and to denounce all the complicit Arab regimes, in the first place the regimes of normalisation and corruption of the Gulf”.
Al-Joumhouri also urged Tunisians to “face the henchmen of normalisation at all political and media levels, including parliamentary blocs rejecting the criminalisation of normalisation with the Zionist entity”.
The “popular current” party emphasised in a statement, its condemnation of the decision of US president Donald Trump to transfer the US embassy to Al Quds, calling it “aggression against the Arab nation” that it is important to thwart it by all means “.
“We reject normalisation policies with the Zionist entity followed by successive Tunisian governments whose pace has accelerated recently with the exchange of delegations after the rejection by the reactionary majority in parliament of a law criminalising noramalisation with the Zionist entity presented by the Popular Front bloc, “the statement added.
The popular current has called on “all democratic and progressive forces as well as freedom-loving men in the world to bring more support to the struggle of the Palestinian people, to thwart all forms of normalisation with the Zionist entity, to stop any link with it, to boycott it at the official and popular level and to continue to demand the adoption of a law criminalising normalisation”.
For its part, Al Harak party said that “the lack of support and the conspiracy of some Arab leaders, as part of the transaction of the century, is a new crime against the right of the Palestinian people, first of all the right to return”.
“We call on all Tunisians, Arabs and Muslims to take a collective leap to help the people of Gaza and all Palestinians and to come to the rescue of Al Quds,” Al Harak said in a statement.
Finally, the “Tunisia ahead” party called on the Tunisian government “to intervene immediately and make clear decisions reflecting the position of the Tunisian people to face US policies in Palestine and the Arab region.”
