Plans are underway to establish bus lanes in the Sultanate, according to Oman’s public transport company Mwasalat.
The company responded to a suggestion made by a passenger to design specified lanes for buses, which would help the development of the transport system.
“We have made great efforts to facilitate the use of buses, and we have addressed Muscat Municipality in coordination with the Ministry of Transport and Communications to establish a special lane,” Mwasalat said in response.
“The municipality has submitted a tender for the project and we hope that the project will come to light soon.”
If established, bus lanes would shorten the journeys from one point to another, as it would allow buses to move through traffic freely.
