Interior Minister Lotfi Braham said Monday “there are no problems between him and Prime Minister Youssef Chahed.”
“The Ministry of the Interior is working in solidarity with the government and is following the instructions and directives of the Premier and coordinating with him,” he said after his hearing, in camera on Monday, by the Parliamentary Security and Defence Committee on the incidents of the Ben Arous Court of First Instance.
The ministry has a pragmatic security dimension, said Lotfi Braham.
“Some political influences can affect its pragmatic decision, but discussing does not necessarily mean disagreeing,” he pointed out.
On his recent visit to Saudi Arabia, Lotfi Braham said it was made in compliance with the administrative rules in force.
It took place in full transparency, with the permission and co-ordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he insisted.
This visit was a kind of tribute from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Tunisian security institution, in particular, for its fight against terrorism and to Tunisia in general, he said.
Several media recently reported a disagreement between Prime Minister Youssef Chahed and Interior Minister Lotfi Braham.
