At a plenary session devoted to the examination of several draft laws, Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) Mohamed Ennaceur announced that Hajer Ben Cheikh Ahmed joined the parliamentary group “Al-Wala Lil Watan” (Allegiance to the Homeland), created on April 3 and chaired by Riadh Jaidane.
Last March, Hajer Ben Cheikh Ahmed had pulled out of the “Afek Tounes” parliamentary bloc, after freezing her membership on December 2017 for the “absence of transparency” and “co-ordination of views.”
On April 13, MP Ali Bennour announced his resignation from “Afek Tounes,” leading thus to the dissolution of the bloc.
Besides, Ennaceur announced that Youssef Juini joined the Free Patriotic Union (UPL) after leaving “Nidaa Tounes” last November. In the 2014 legislative elections, Juini had stood as a member of the UPL.
The new composition of the parliamentary blocs as posted on the HPR’s official website is as follows:
Ennahdha (68 deputies), Nidaa Tounes (56), Al-Horra of Machrou Tounes movement (20), Popular Front (15), Democratic Group (12), Free Patriotic Union (12), Al-watania Group (10), Allegiance to the Homeland (11) and out of groups (13).
At the opening of the session, the Fatiha was recited at the memory of Maya Jeribi, former Secretary-General of the Al-Joumhouri Party, who had died on Saturday of a long illness.
